What is a Shuttle System?
A type of automated storage and retrievel system (AS/RS) that uses mobile carts that “shuttle” (i.e., transport) items within a rack storage system, automatically putting away and selecting totes, trays or cases in the storage buffer. Provides dense storage and support for goods-to-picker designs. The shuttles travel the depth of your racking to pick up or deposit inventory at either end of the racking structure. The shuttles are equipped with arms that allow them to retrieve product based on instructions from the automation control system.
